Board of Directors

The Redwood Art Association is governed by a Board of Directors responsible for management of the affairs of the organization, coordinating activities and making decisions about how the organization can best serve the membership and the community. It is a working board and members donate their time, skills and energy to present successful events and worthwhile activities. All decisions are made in accordance with our member approved bylaws. 

The Board meets at 11:00AM on the second Friday of each month at the RAA Gallery. If you would like to communicate with the Board or a Board Member, you may send an email to info@redwoodart.us and your message will be forwarded.

The Officers and Directors for 2021 are:

Erica Brooks, President
Local artist and teacher. BFA from the East Coast, secondary art education teaching credential from HSU, and a MFA from Academy of Art San Francisco. Specializes in pet portrait commissions.

 

Steven Lemke, Vice President
Has an Applied Math Degree with a career as a hydrographic survey engineer updating nautical charts. Discovered his love for pastels after retirement. Enjoys landscape, still life and portraiture painting.

 

Lynn Niekrasz, Secretary
Retired from a 29-year career salon business. After eight years of studio and plein air study including workshops with Jim McVicker, she joined RAA and continues to learn from many of Humboldt’s gifted artists.

 

Jon Exley, Treasurer
Former marketing, IT business analyst and process manager for an international transportation company. Discovered photography while stationed overseas, and is an active member of the Redwood Camera Club.

 

Benjamin Funke
Received his MFA in sculpture from University of Notre Dame, is an associate faculty member at CR and a sculpture technician at HSU. Worked for an art residency program ACRE, and exhibited his art widely.

Lindsay Lacewell Kessner
Prior to teaching at College of the Redwoods, Kessner worked for ten years at The Armory Center for the Arts and other institutions in the Los Angeles area, where she developed and led programs to engage young students in art-making as a way of exploring nature, strengthening community, fostering academic extension, and exploring identity and personal agency.

Sara Kimber
Retired from a 30-year career in large scale IT Project Management, now pursuing a Bachelors of Fine Arts at HSU. Primarily a figurative ceramic sculptor using clay, steel, stone, copper, bronze, beads & wood.

 

Jeff McCallay
Street and travel photographer living in Eureka. Private pilot with degree in Airport Management. Retired from the FAA as air traffic controller in 2005. Part-time ATC instructor at the Aeronautical Center in OKC.

Diana Schoenfeld
Holds a MA in Studio Art and Photography and a MFA in the History and Practice of Photography, has taught photography at the university level, and her photographs have been exhibited internationally.

Jonah Simmons

Received a BA in Studio Art from HSU. He is an aspiring art historian and teacher. His art practice focuses on sculpture, woodworking, and photography.

 

Carol W Telesky
Retired Management Consultant. After 25 years as a botanical watercolorist, completed a second BA in Studio Art at HSU. Still learning to paint en plein air. Special interest in RAA operating effectively.
